Biography

I, Matthias K. Weber (*1994 in Krems an der Donau, Austria), work as a composer and arranger.

My musical education began at the age of nine on the trumpet. In the years that followed, I expanded my instrumental skills to include piano and percussion, and I taught myself the trombone.

During my youth, I developed a particular fascination for jazz – especially the sound and energy of big band music. My first formative experiences came with the BORG Big Band Krems. I then spent several years as a member of the Youth Jazz Orchestra of Lower Austria and the big.mdw.band. It was within these ensembles that I wrote my first original compositions and arrangements. The first performance of one of my own compositions took place in 2011, performed by the Youth Jazz Orchestra of Lower Austria.

In 2016, I founded the Big.Matt.Band, which led to the first recordings of my own works as well as live concerts featuring exclusively my original music and arrangements. At the same time, I increasingly began composing in other styles, including my first works for wind orchestra and pieces for various ensemble settings.

Alongside my compositional work, I am involved in radio and pop productions in my own recording studio. I also continue to work as a trumpet player, both in the studio and with various live bands.

My first publications appeared in 2019 with Tuba Musikverlag. Since 2025, I have been represented as a composer by Symphonic Dimensions Publishing. As an arranger, I work continuously across a wide range of musical fields, from classical music and jazz to popular music.
